FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Families of Westlake Parent Group at Westlake Middle School Honor Pamela Price as a 2026 Living Legend

Oakland, CA — February 25, 2026 — The Families of Westlake Parent Group are proud to announce that Pamela Price will be honored as a 2026 Living Legend during the 2nd Annual Living Legends Night on Thursday, February 26, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Westlake Middle School.

Each month, the Families of Westlake Parent Group convenes community gatherings designed to strengthen bonds among families, students, and educators while fostering unity, reflection, and shared purpose. Living Legends Night—established before Pamela Price took office in 2023—celebrates individuals whose leadership, courage, and commitment to justice have shaped the landscape of Oakland and beyond.

This year, the event recognizes trailblazers who have challenged inequities, transformed systems, and opened doors for future generations. Pamela Price’s career embodies that legacy.

A Historic and Unprecedented Leader

Pamela Price is one of the most consequential figures in Alameda County’s modern history. Her election and service represent a series of groundbreaking firsts:

  • First Black Alameda County District Attorney in over 170 years
  • First Black woman to serve as District Attorney
  • First DA elected in 75 years without being appointed first
  • First Alameda County DA to face a recall and the first to run to regain the office
  • Lead Plaintiff in the landmark case of Alexander vs Yale to Hold Yale University Accountable for Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment under Title IX that resulted in protections for women and girls across the nation

Her historic rise reflects a lifelong commitment to civil rights, accountability, and community-centered justice. Long before holding office, Price was known nationally for her legal advocacy, her work on civil rights cases, and her unwavering insistence that justice must be accessible to all communities.

Leadership Rooted in Vision, Courage, and Integrity

Key themes from her public record and recent statements underscore why she is being honored:

  • She has consistently championed justice reform, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and restorative approaches.
  • She has defied misinformation and political pressure, standing firm in her belief that public safety and civil rights are not mutually exclusive.
  • She has demonstrated a willingness to engage publicly and directly with the community, including being the first candidate in the current DA race to step forward for a public debate.
  • She continues to advocate for data-driven solutions, community partnerships, and a justice system that treats all people with dignity.

These values deeply resonate with Westlake families and students, who see in Price a model of leadership grounded in integrity and courage.

A Living Legend for a New Generation

“Pamela Price’s journey shows our young people what is possible when leaders stand firmly in their values,” said organizers of the Families of Westlake Parent Group. “Her historic achievements and her commitment to justice have left an indelible mark on Alameda County. She is a Living Legend not because of a title, but because of the transformative impact of her work.”

Living Legends Night invites families, educators, and community partners to celebrate leaders who inspire the next generation to imagine boldly, lead with purpose, and pursue justice with conviction.
